Upd 6/27 - WSJ 6/25 - Prosser allegedly grabbed fellow justice by the neck

Update: 6/27 afternoon

Dane County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Supreme Court Incident

Update: 6/27 morning

When I first saw the WSJ article (on Twitter) and put a blog entry together (about 2:20pm, Saturday afternoon) I was willing to believe that more needed to come out but that the issue of these kinds of interactions, and Prosser's history of name calling, etc., unfortunately made it too believable.  I can only wonder if he has always been like this or is it a more recent expression of personality - draw your own conclusion!  What has been universal is as I related what was reported, that people said, "That can't be true!?"

Was it that people did not believe me or my account?  No, I don't think so.  They were offended, affronted, shocked, astounded - pick your adjective or adverbs (if you are really stunned)!  This was the behavior of a Wisconsin State Supreme Court Justice.  How could he be elected.  How could he be capable of this kind of "stunt".  He evidently is living pretty close to the edge - ~750,000 people in this state better do a little self-reflection before they simply vote ideology without really knowing the candidate.

By later in the day or early evening the situation had become even a little more strange.  I gather Prosser came out first with a "self-defense" argument such that Bradley had to at least counter with her own statement of incredulity.

Prosser should resign but he will not.  He is the precursor of Scott Walker: fostered, selected into, cultivated and promoted by the Republican Party of Wisconsin.

Prosser seems to not have much decorum left.  If this turns out to be a faithful and truthful account he should resign.

Wisconsin State Journal -

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser allegedly grabbed fellow Justice Ann Walsh Bradley around the neck in an argument in her chambers last week, according to at least three knowledgeable sources.
Details of the incident, investigated jointly by Wisconsin Public Radio and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, remain sketchy. The sources spoke on the condition that they not be named, citing a need to preserve professional relationships.
They say an argument that occurred before the court’s release of a decision upholding a bill to curtail the collective bargaining rights of public employees culminated in a physical altercation in the presence of other justices. Bradley purportedly asked Prosser to leave her office, whereupon Prosser grabbed Bradley by the neck with both hands.

Recall and Recount and someone said Refresh - Darling

4/21: Facebook page
Darling
WE NEED YOU! We’re asking all supporters and volunteers to join us at 12:00pm, Thursday, April 21 at Kletzsch Park in Glendale. We are asking for everyone to bring in any signed petitions they may have left. As we inch closer to our goal we want to make sure that no signatures goes uncounted. The more signatures we have to turn in makes a statement to both Sen. Darling and Gov. Scott Walker. During the Thursday rally we do plan on making a BIG announcement of where we are. Please invite your family and friends as we gather at Kletzsch Park to discuss our plans moving forward. We look forward to seeing you at the rally!

I remember seeing the above phrase used in connection the Kloppenburg - Prosser contest on election day and the day after!

So Kloppenburg is going for a recount ... not a surprise just like Prosser would have done!  In the end we may get even better election officials if nothing else - the Governor and Republicans passed "voter fraud" protection by making it harder for the young and old to vote - seems like they targeted the wrong people especially in Waukesha County ... but competence is not a requirement!

From the JSOnline about 1pm ...

3 groups targeting Democrats for recalls to file signatures Thursday - By Tom Tolan of the Journal Sentinel

Everyone will challenge everyone one of the other persons signatures - no surprise!  The surprises have more to do with who is not going to be challenged ... in our current political state-of-mind a recall seems the norm not the exception it has been historically.  Let's hope that voter complacency finally goes away and never comes back!

Almost more like a rumor but ... from the article ... 3/28
The sources are anonymous, the specific numbers are not released, and the author clearly has an agenda, so take this with a big helping of salt. Even so, it's a decent indication that the Wisconsin Supreme Court campaign will not be a cakewalk for former Republican state Assembly Leader David Prosser. That's pretty surprising, since Republicans swept the state just four month ago and since this is likely to be a very low turnout election.

National Review as also referenced in the article ...

Wisconsin Fight Goes to Court And Walker’s big win could ride on a single judicial election. 3/28

The Greater Wisconsin Committee, a leftist organizing group with deep union ties, has funneled $3 million into anti-Prosser advertising, taking relentlessly to the airwaves. “They are the Left’s biggest political player in the state,” says Brett Healy, the president of the MacIver Institute, a Wisconsin-based think tank. “They run the ads that no one else wants to run.
Indeed. The GWC is airing ads that tie Prosser to the budget bill. “Prosser equals Walker” is the usual theme.
The above quote is from NR by Daily Kos.  To be fair and balanced the MacIver Institute has been labeled by some as a right-wing think tank

 3/26 Saturday Morning
There was a debate last night - anybody change their mind?

There he goes again -

Prosser calls Kloppenburg an 'ideologue' from JSOnline

Probably what he should have called Chief Justice Abrahamson instead of B****!

Almost a comedy script ...  do you think JoAnne Kloppenburg can prevent someone of her Facebook friends from writing that Prosser or the Governor is a "turd"?  In the exercise of free speech how does that compare with him calling the Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice a "b**ch"!

Related ... WI - Justice is a five letter word ... Prosser VS Kloppenburg

From the source - at least it rhymes :
“It says, 'Stop the turd, vote Kloppenburg,'” he said. "Am I the turd or is the governor the turd?"

Kloppenburg defended the Facebook page, saying she was not responsible for what others post there.

WI - Justice is a five letter word ... Prosser VS Abrahamson - Vote April 5th

Update: The February date was mistyped as 2011.

Almost missed this one ... incident 2/10/2010 reported 3/19/2011 in JSOnline.  Prosser thinks this is being released to embarrass him and hurt him politically!  Gee ... you think so!  Character / reserve / control / judgment all seem like relevant criteria for choosing a Supreme Court Justice!  See - did not even mention Prosser's real opponent ;-}

Click on the title (above) to find out which "four/five letter word" Prosser used in describing the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court!
