More Strange - Your license: made in California by TMJ4

We owe so much to the Wisconsin Republican led Legislature and our U.S. Representative Sensenbrenner.  If you do not have clue start following Sensenbrenner Watch.  Sensnebrenner was the big push behind "Real ID" and of course our Legislature our own Voter ID with DOT in charge (practically).  Now you vote with a "paper receipt" are the probable consequences except that the local "clerk" at the voting office will make you do it "provisionally" because you do not have a proper "picture ID".

Starting this fall, Wisconsin driver's license cards will no longer be printed in Wisconsin.  Instead, the state will outsource the work to a company that will print the cards in California.

Under the new plan, Wisconsin drivers will still go to the DMV office to complete paperwork, have their eyes checked, and have their photograph taken as normal. However, the local DMV office will only issue a printed paper receipt that can be used while the actual printed license card is being manufactured in California.  The temporary paper receipt will have a driver's photo on it and can be used as identification at the airport or to vote, the DOT said.

If that last sentence is true why do we need "picture ID's" ... one could just pass the "paper with picture" or fudge it a bit around for a few weeks ;-}.  Isn't this all just silly!  This again is a case of "more expensive" being sold as saving money.

So Walker is on solid ground singling out what happened in Dane County in this election. But he is on more dubious ground suggesting the state can somehow be divided politically into Dane County and “everybody else.” It would be akin to a Democrat saying the state can be divided into the GOP’s base in the Milwaukee suburbs (hugely Republican Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties) and “everybody else.” Those three counties are as unrepresentative of Wisconsin as a whole as Dane County is in the other direction. And they perform the same electoral role. Each party has its geographic base and both figure mightily in state elections, which to some degree have turned into partisan turnout wars.

Why Vote !? Governor 4-YR Election Cycle Non-Presidential

In early February, 2011 as Governor Walker proclaimed his Budget Repair Bill was being put forward as a mandate from the people of Wisconsin I began to wonder just how big his mandate was!  So I did a little digging to get some facts from sources that seem reliable!  The result is the attached 'WHY VOTE' page!

Why Vote!?


Governor Walker was elected by only  ~26% of the Voting age population of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Voter Turnout 11/2008      69.20%    2,996,869    VAP  ~4,370,000 (Source: Wi GAB)

Approximate Difference in     ~20%          836,000

Assume 2008 as Actual Voter Base for Major Parties
(allows imputation of voting falloff by party from 2008 to 2010)

Walker's 2010 Win - Voter Margin              124,638  

In summary, Governor Walker was elected by a very, very slim margin of 124,638 votes,less than 5.8% of the votes cast. Governor Walker was elected by only  ~26% of the Voting age population of Wisconsin.

This assumes that voter preference was not wildly different from 2010 than it was in 2008.  If Barrett had a Falloff of just 11% he easily would have been Governor by a margin of ~363,177 votes
